About Cloud Coffee
Cloud Coffee is co-owned and operated by Matthew Craig and Kristen Mills. As graduate students at Tyler School of Art, the pair recognized a need for delicious coffee in close proximity to their scholarly pursuits. Upon graduation, the duo teamed up to solve this and one other little-known conundrum: artists need money. In light of this reality, Craig and Mills vowed not only to deliver fine brew to Temple's campus, but also to channel their entrepreneurial efforts into endeavors supporting artistic growth in Philadelphia and beyond. Cloud supports artists through advice giving, exhibition advertising and The Cloud Prize, an annual juried monetary award.
Matthew Craig, Co-Owner
Matthew loves coffee and painting. Also, painting and coffee. After growing up in Portland, OR and studying in Italy multiple times, a lifetime involvement with coffee was pretty much unavoidable. When not perfecting his Portland accent, Matthew can be found teaching at Tyler School of Art, painting in his studio, running errands for Cloud Coffee, making people coffee, making himself coffee, or researching machines that make coffee. He has exhibited in the US and Europe, and is represented by Simon Gallery in New Jersey. His work can be viewed at matthewcraigart.com
Kristen Mills, Co-Owner
Kristen splits her time between Philly and Boston, teaching and making art; she is currently an adjunct assistant professor at Tyler and at MassArt, in the graduate programs. But really she spends most of her time in Philly co-owning and co-operating Cloud Coffee. Although this commands an enormous amount of her time, she loves the connections with other artists, thinkers, and doers. It also provokes her video/performative endeavors.
With that, her work engages a variety of strategies: video, audio, interactive projections, text-
based murals, performances, talk shows, collaborative engagements and teaching - in an ongoing investigation of how meaning is constructed in our contemporary culture. Her work has been exhibited and distributed in Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Rome, Italy. Kristen is also an avid Netflix viewer, NPR listener, Planet Fitness attender, and nail biter.

Rebekah Flake, Curatorial and Media Liaison
Rebekah joined Cloud Coffee in 2015 to be the point person for all PR and curatorial coordination queries. She is a graduate of Tyler's MFA program in Photography and has also worked for many years in exhibition settings. She gets really into making other people's art projects happen--from research to press to installation. You may also catch her roaming history hot spots in Philly and beyond to gather footage for new art about old things. Her work and latest projects can be viewed at rebekahflake.com.
